How To Change Those Destructive Thoughts

“A problem is only a problem if you refuse to look for a solution. If you don’t take action to fix it then it will remain a problem.”

– Catherine Pulsifer

Our thinking process shapes the way we lead our lives. Most of us indulge in life-wrecking thought patterns that do us no good. Instead, it opens doors to negativities and causes emotional suffering.

Some common issues or thought patterns, for instance, are-

  • Feelings of never being good enough

  • Thinking bad things always happen to you

  • Looking for problems in all situations

  • Being envious when others successes

  • Thoughts on how you can never achieve happiness

  • You see situations and life as black and white and no in-between

  • Always blaming yourself

  • Making excuses

  • Overthinking situations

  • Never wanting to leave your comfort zone

These are the results of destructive thought patterns, and you need to change them if you want a peaceful life. To change these thoughts, do the following:

  • Recognize the negative thoughts
If you want to change something about yourself, you need to spot the issue and what causes it in the first place. Try to focus on how you perceive your life and start from there. You need to identify your negative thinking pattern since everyone has different ones.

  • Replace unpleasing thoughts with good ones
Once you have spotted your thought pattern, you can start working on it to change it for good. Every negative side that you perceive from a situation has a positive side that you ignored. Start looking for the positives.

  • Give yourself time
Changing a daily habit is not done overnight. Therefore, give yourself time to adapt to the changes.
